As the cultural scene braves the storm of uncertainty caused by COVID-19, Notre-Dame-des-Arts (NDA) is taking action by launching an online campaign to raise funds that will help the local arts scene. The goal is to raise funds for NDA, which is the promoter and producer of many artistic events in the borough of CDN-NDG and, furthermore, NDA is creating a relief fund in order to help NDG-based independent artists.. With all cultural events cancelled for the summer 2020 season, local independent artists are feeling the effects as it directly affects their livelihood. Notre-Dame-des-Arts would like to provide assistance and is committed to dedicating part of the funds raised to create a relief fund for NDG-based artists deeply impacted by all the recent changes.

The online campaign will lead to our Quaranstream event, which will be held on May 31st, 2020 at 8 pm. It is a Livestream event that will be broadcasted on NDA’s social media platforms. In collaboration with CJLO, Quaranstream will present musical programming with a line up of 3 DJs over the course of the evening. “The team is working hard to adapt to all the sudden changes. We hope that this initiative will help support us as we make a digital turn in order to present free cultural programming for the coming months.’’ says Rene Bernal, Director of Notre-Dame-des-Arts. “We also want to be able to respond to our mandate which is to support local artists and local arts initiatives in the NDG borough, which is why we are committed to creating the relief fund for the artistic community in the neighbourhood.” To help NDG-based artists, an online form is available to send in a request and make a donation.

The Quaranstream event will be broadcasted live on the Facebook page of Notre-Dame-des-Arts on May 31st starting at 8 PM and will feature sets by DJ Mymble et Pinga, Sylvain Verstricht et Lou Raskin. Notre-Dame-des-Arts presents year-round cultural programming in NDG such as the NDG Arts Week festival, Imagine Monkland festival and the Friends of NDG Park community partnership project. Our mandate is to produce and promote free cultural programming to showcase the artistic local talent of NDG NDA would like to thank all of its supporters and partners that make our projects possible. Thank you to the festival goers, our staff and our board of directors that contribute to the success of our events every year.
